Blackhawks Build Lead Early to Beat Chargers 62-46

The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball fell behind early and dropped a 62-46 contest at Southeastern (Iowa) on Monday night.

Key Moment
The Chargers (2-2) scored the opening basket of the game on a 3-pointer from Hailey Lovetinsky (Overland Park, Kan./Spring Hill), but the Blackhawks (4-2) rattled off the next 11 straight and didn’t look back. Southeastern led 15-5 after a quarter and 29-14 at halftime.

Sandburg Star of the Game
Freshman forward Yvonne Mixon (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) was the only Charger to reach double figures, scoring 10 points on 3-for-8 shooting. Mixon also had five rebounds.

  • Kennedy Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) nine rebounds (four offensive)
  • Katie Droste (Biggsville, Ill./West Central) seven points, four rebounds, two steals

For the Blackhawks
Andreisha Waller scored a game-high 20 on 8-of-13 shooting, grabbed nine rebounds, handed out seven assists and picked up five steals.

Up Next
The Chargers will host Milwaukee Area Technical at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the opening game of a doubleheader. The men’s contest will follow at 7 p.m.
